My darling husband recently felt it necessary to bring to my attention two new infatuations he believes are getting a bit serious. It is no surprise to people who know me that I wear my hear on my sleeve and I fall hard. Hard and fast. And right now I am in luuuurrv with a capitol "L" when it comes to Donald Glover and the band Electric Guest. These summer crushes were solidified a few weeks back when I got to see both live at Bonnaroo but only time will tell if they turn into a full fledged summer love affair.
You've heard me swoon before about Mr. Glover here and let me tell you he was all I hoped he'd be live. In my head he behaves exactly like his character Troy on Community and only puts his stank face on when frontin' as Childish Gambino. I was super bummed when the original Charlotte show date got cancelled back in the spring but I have the rescheduled July date on the books. I have a date with destiny my friends and I may even let the hubs tag along;)
If you guys think you don't know Electric Guest their single This Head I Hold should sound pretty familiar. I hadn't really paid attention to the whole album before kicking of my 'Roo festivities with their show. They were delightful, I loved every song, and Asa Taccone had me at "Hey Bonnaroo, it's Noon. We're Electric Guest ~ the opening act for Ludacris' soundcheck"!. Did I mention Jorma Taccone's (1/3 of The Lonely Island as well as Booth Jonathon) is his brother? What can I say, I have a thing for eyebrows. I never stood a chance man.
I silently say a prayer at least once a week that Q will not catch Bieber Fever or whatever her generations equivalent is going to be. I think we're off to a good start with her musical tastes because this joint is her jam and she will literally run from another room to get down to it.
